Lilium’s solution to noise pollution: Bringing serenity to the scenery of the French Riviera

A Sound Approach

Without a doubt, it can be quite a nuisance to take time off from a hectic work schedule and spend time vacationing in the French Riviera, only to be confronted with obnoxious helicopters flying overhead.

The authorities in the Côte d’Azur have been seeking solutions to mitigate this problem for the 11 million annual tourists that visit this paradise haven in Southern France, and Lilium a Munich-based aircraft manufacturer has stepped up to the task.

The Lilium jet, with it’s exclusive electric jet motor technology featuring ducted fans, offers transportation that minimizes noise pollution. These encased engines direct engine flows away from the cabin, and away from the ground during most of its flight. Having an external noise that is 62 dBA at 100 meters (roughly 300 feet), it’s significantly quieter than a helicopter (which can have about 100 dbA at the same altitude).

Residents and tourists alike can feel undisturbed on the ground with Lilium jets quietly flying up in the sky. Furthermore, for those fortunate enough to travel in a Lilium jet will benefit from the superb cabin construction that insulates outdoor noise, and jet engines designed to reduce vibrations. And on top of it all, Lilium offers an optional premium soundproofing package that makes the cabin environment even more serene.

Beginning in 2026, Lilium jet connections will emerge between the top tourists destinations across the French Riviera, including Marseille, Aix-en-Provence, Golfe de Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Nice, as well as the Principality of Monaco, thanks to the cooperation agreement between Lilium N.V. (NASDAQ:LILM), the Italian vertiport provider UrbanV, and Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur (ACA), managing Nice Côte d’Azur airport (the second largest airport platform in France), along with the airports of Cannes Mandelieu and Golfe de Saint-Tropez.
