On August 18th 2025, BETA Technologies was welcomed with open arms at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport(YTZ) during an event hosted by PortsToronto (owner and administrator of Billy Bishop Airport), and Stolport (a FBO with the longest operational history at Billy Bishop Airport). BETA Technologies made a grand demonstration flight with a CTOL version of its ALIA electric aircraft, signaling PortsToronto’s solid commitment not only to AAM, but also to greener forms of travel. Stolport, with the vision to be a frontrunner in the AAM revolution, purchased BETA’s Mini Cube electric chargers to power the batteries of electric eVTOL and CTOL aircraft, as well as electric ground vehicles. Stolport’s purchase marks BETA’s first charger sale in Canada, supplementing its growing network of 52 chargers across the U.S.

BETA’s Burlington, Vermont headquarters isn’t too far away from the Canadian border, but what many in aviation may not be aware, is that BETA Technologies has an engineering hub in Montreal, Quebec since 2023. BETA also has customers such as Richmond, British Columbia-based Helijet, which made the first Canadian order for BETA’s electric aircraft. A BETA ALIA was also the first electric aircraft to land at Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport. The deep ties between BETA Technologies and Canada have always been strong, and with Toronto being a prominent aviation tech hub, this historic event at Billy Bishop Airport became all the more relevant.

Fuel Savings
BETA Technologies offers tremendous fuel savings with its electric aircraft. The CTOL version of its ALIA electric aircraft burns only $18 USD worth of fuel per hour vs the $347 USD of fuel per hour that a Cessna 208 would consume. This in turn provides an incredible 75% reduction in emissions!
Such was the case on June 3rd 2025, when an Alia C300 landed in New York JKF International Airport from East Hampton. BETA’s electric Alia CTOL aircraft consumed only $7 worth of electrical power versus the several the hundreds of dollars of fuel required by a helicopter.
