Horizon Aircraft has announced the pricing of a $20 million offering of common shares, marking another major step forward in the company’s effort to bring its hybrid-electric Cavorite X7 aircraft toward commercialization.

The financing consists of approximately 9.25 million Class A ordinary shares sold to institutional investors. According to the company, the proceeds will primarily support development and buildout of the Cavorite X7 program, while also strengthening working capital and supporting broader corporate initiatives.

A Critical Stage for the Cavorite X7

The timing of the financing is significant for Horizon Aircraft, which is advancing one of the aerospace industry’s more distinctive approaches to advanced air mobility.

Unlike many fully electric eVTOL developers, Horizon has focused on a hybrid-electric architecture from the beginning. The company’s patented fan-in-wing system is designed to allow vertical takeoff and landing while also enabling conventional wing-borne flight for longer range and higher operational flexibility.

The Cavorite X7 is being developed as a seven-seat aircraft intended for regional mobility, emergency services, defense applications, and business aviation markets. Horizon believes the hybrid approach could offer meaningful advantages over battery-only competitors, particularly in range, payload capacity, and operational practicality.

The newly announced capital raise is expected to help Horizon move through several key milestones, including:

  • Full-scale prototype development
  • Flight testing
  • Certification work
  • Manufacturing preparation
  • Commercialization planning

HOVR Patented Wing System

Horizon Aircraft developed an ingenious and patented fan-in-wing design. The profound, yet “simplicity” in Horizon’s design is a true engineering marvel. Unlike the quadcopter-style vehicles aimed at short urban hops, the Cavorite X7 is a hybrid-electric aircraft with fixed wings, a rear propeller, and 12 electric ducted fans embedded in its wings for vertical takeoff and landing. Once airborne, the fans are sealed by closing panels, allowing the aircraft to transition into efficient forward flight.

The Cavorite X7 features a revolutionary fan-in-wing design that blends the flexibility of a helicopter with the performance and speed of a traditional aircraft.

Its wings house 12 high-powered lift fans, delivering the vertical thrust needed for smooth and efficient takeoff.

Once the Cavorite X7 reaches a safe altitude and speed, sliding panels conceal the lift fans, allowing it to transition into conventional airplane flight. For landing, it can use a standard runway, or redeploy the fans to touch down on a helipad. Horizon Aircraft claims the Cavorite X7 can even land in a space as small as a tennis court!

The company projects cruise speeds up to ~250 mph and operational ranges exceeding 500 miles thanks to its hybrid powertrain; impressive numbers in the current Regional Air Mobility (RAM) arena.

Building More Than an Aircraft

Beyond engineering progress, the years leading up to commercialization may also provide Horizon with an opportunity to build broader market readiness around hybrid-electric aviation.

The company’s development timeline naturally creates room for engagement with operators, regulators, infrastructure partners, and future passengers who may eventually use or support aircraft like the Cavorite X7. As advanced air mobility moves closer to commercial reality, industry participants increasingly recognize that adoption depends not only on aircraft performance, but also on public familiarity, operational education, infrastructure planning, and regulatory confidence.

For Horizon, commercialization may therefore involve building an ecosystem alongside the aircraft itself.

Looking Ahead

The offering is expected to close around May 8, subject to customary closing conditions.

As competition intensifies across the advanced air mobility sector, Horizon Aircraft continues to position itself around a differentiated hybrid-electric strategy that emphasizes range, operational flexibility, and practical deployment scenarios.

With fresh capital now secured, investors and industry observers will likely be watching closely for updates related to prototype progress, certification milestones, strategic partnerships, and the company’s broader commercialization roadmap.
